r 18 January 2001 AGE-NC Project No 99-0592 Page 5,of 5 ' 3 1 GROUND WATER ELEVATION AND GRADIENT Ground water elevation decreased by 2 60 feet to 55 00 feet below the top of the well casing in MW- ' 1 since the 27 September 2000 monitoring event Groundwater elevation data are presented on Table 1 Monitoring data from MW-1 was combined with monitoring well data collected from the adjacent ' former Cherokee Truck Stop site (3 53 5 East Cherokee Road) collected on 20 December 2000 to determine the approximate ground water flow direction Ground water flow direction was inferred to be northeasterly at a gradient of approximately 0 001 ft/ft Figure 3 depicts the contours for I December 2000 The gradient map includes data from monitoring wells located at 3535 East Cherokee Road r3 2 LABORATORY RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in the ground water samples collected from monitoring well MW-1, located within the former UST excavation and from the now-abandoned DW-2 TPH-g was detected at a concentration of 370 micrograms per liter(gg/1)in MW-1 TPH-d was detected in MW- 1 and DW-2 at concentrations of 220 gg/1 and 280 µg11,respectively Benzene, toluene, and xylenes were detected at concentrations of 0 92 gg/l, 0 82 gg/l, and 1 7 µg/l,respectively,in MW,I Toluene and xylenes were detected in DW-2 at concentrations of 1 0 gg/1 and I I gg/l, respectively MTBE was detected at a concentration of 7 4 gg/l(by EPA Method 8260) in the sample from MW-1 None of the target analytes were detected in sample DW-1 collected from the active domestic well Analytical results for the ground water samples for the December 2000 monitoring event are surrimarized on Tables 2 and 3 The laboratory report(MAI Laboratory ID 503 07, 56702 and 56703), QA/QC and chain-of custody are included in Appendix C I 4.0. SUMMARY/CONCLUSIONS The following conclusions were drawn from the results of the site investigation and data collected ' from adjacent sites • Ground water elevation at the site decreased approximately 2 6 feet since the 27 September 2000 monitoring event • The inferred local ground water flow direction is toward the northeast at a gradient of approximately 0 001 ft/ft Additional monitoring wells located at 3535 East Cherokee Road were utilized to construct a ground water flow direction map for the subject site } Advanced GcoEnvirunmental,Inc I ,
