E <br />VI. CLOSING <br />11 <br />Where no hatch cover exists, and a manhole has been cut <br />out, the tank should be sealed in the following way: <br />The cover plate should overlap the hole at least 2" on <br />each side and should measure at least 27" x 2711. Fastening <br />the cover to the tank can be accomplished by punching 3/4" <br />diameter holes on 5" centers, 111, from the edge. The cover <br />should be rolled to the contour of the tank. <br />An alternate cover plate may be used and should overlap <br />the hole at least 2" on each side and should measure 24" x <br />24". The hole may by cut to 18" x 18". <br />Whenever authorities require, the tank may be tested by <br />the following method: <br />A Tank Tigtness Test as outlined in NFPA 329 Underground <br />Leakage of Flammable and Combustible Liquid, par. 4.3.10 - <br />4.3.10.4, that takes into consideration the temperature <br />coefficient of expansion of the product being tested as <br />related to any temperature change during the test, and is <br />capable of detecting a loss of 0.05 gal. (190 ml) per hour. <br />OPERATIONS AFFECTING EXISTING WORK <br />The operation shall be conducted with care not to damage <br />work which is to remain in place, and all existing work <br />damaged by such operations shall be rectified promptly <br />without additional expense to the owner. <br />Every reasonable precaution is taken in the manufacture <br />of all Glass Armor products and compilation of data to assure <br />that they comply with Bridgeport Chemical Corporation's <br />exacting standards. As, however, the effectiveness of each <br />product depends in part, upon correct methods of use, no <br />guarantee of such products or data can be given. <br />Applicator assumes all responsibility for selection of <br />Glass Armor products for coating the interior of tanks, for <br />safety in application of any such products, for the fitness <br />of such products for any such application, including the <br />durability and safety of any such product, and applicator <br />shall indemnify and hold Bridgeport Chemical harmless from <br />any claim, action, damage or liability asserted by any third <br />Page 6 <br />
