LJ
CAUTION: IF MORE THAN TWO WIRE NUT
CONNECTIONS SHARE AN EPDXY SEALANT
• BAG, THE CONNECTIONS WILL NOT BE PROP-
ERLY SEALED. IMPROPER SEALING OF THE
CONNECTIONS WILL RESULT IN INACCURATE
SENSOR READINGS AND POSSIBLY FALSE
ALARM CONDITIONS.
WWARNING: EPDXY SEALANT MAY BE IRRI-
TATING TO EYES AND SKIN. MAY CAUSE
SKIN SENSITIZATION IN SUSCEPTIBLE IN-
DIVIDUALS. MAY BE ABSORBED THROUGH
THE SKIN. EPDXY SEALANT CONTAINS EP-
OXY RESIN AND VINYL CYCLOHEXENE DI-
OXIDE. VINYL CYCLOHEXENE DIOXIDE HAS
CAUSED SKIN CANCER IN ANIMAL TESTS.
PRECAUTIONS: AVOID EYE AND SKIN CON-
TACT. WEAR IMPERVIOUS GLOVES AND
SAFETY GLASSES. USE ONLY IN WELL VEN-
TILATED AREAS.
D. INSTALLATION OF DISCRIMINATING
INTERSTITIAL SENSOR — FIBERGLASS
TANKS
.1 NOTE: To ensure proper operation of the sensor, it is
important that you accurately measure your riser, and
correctly install the sensor according to the size ofyour
fiberglass tank. This ensures the sensor will rest as
close as possible to the bottom of the tank annulus.
1. Measure the length of the riser pipe as show in Figure
48, "Discriminating Interstitial Sensor Installation —
Fiberglass Tanks."
2. Locate the label on the sensor cable that corresponds to
the tank size.
.1 NOTE: Sensor cable tank size markings are based
pion Xerxes and Owens Corning Fiberglass Tanks.
Call Veeder-Root if you are installing the sensor in
another brand of fiberglass tank.
3. Measure from the appropriate label, up the sensor
cable (away from the sensor) the riser pipe length
determined in step 1. Mark this position with the tie
wrap provided.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE A KNIFE OR OTHER
SHARP OBJECT TO MARKTHE LEADER CABLE.
MARK THE DISTANCE WITH THE TIE WRAP
PROVIDED.
4. Using a pull cord, draw the sensor through the intersti-
tial space until the tie wrap is even with the top of the
riser pipe. The sensor should now be at the bottom of
the tank.
NOTE: Pull -Cord Installation Method. To en-
sure proper installation of the sensor using a pull
cord, an eyelet has been provided at the end of the
sensor for pull -cord installation.
5. Secure the riser cap to the riser pipe.
Site Preparation anA&stallation InstructionsT
TLS-31WST Monitoring System
2-1 /2" CORD GRIP SEALS
WEATHERPROOF
SUPPLIED WITH SENSOR
(1 PER SENSOR)
1/2" RIGID
_ 14" MINIMUM
DIA. Tighten the cable bushing nuts on the riser cap and
junction box to ensure a water -tight seal at the cable
entry.
7. Using wire nuts, connect the two -wire sensor cable to
the field wires in the sensor junction box. Be sure to
observe color codes for proper polarity hookup to the
TLS -350 monitor Type A Interface Module.
