GROUND ZERO ANALYSIS, INC.
0
Quality Control/Quality Assurance Plan
A QC program independent from the laboratory's program will be instituted as required. The
program would entail "blind" submittals to the laboratory of blank and duplicate samples.
Spiked samples may also be submitted from the field where appropriate. The laboratory in-
house QC program will include analysis of spiked samples. All QC samples will be assigned
independent sample numbers and made indistinguishable from non QC samples. Spiked and
duplicate samples will not be collected for this phase of work.
When sampling storm drain effluent, a travel blank will be used to detect the introduction of
contaminants during transportation from the field to the laboratory. The travel blank will be
provided by the analytical laboratory and will be taken to the field and accompany the collected
groundwater samples to the laboratory for analysis. The blank will consist of deionized water or
analytically confirmed organic -free water. The blank is numbered, packaged, and sealed in the
same manner as the other samples.
4.0 SAMPLE PRESERVATION
Sample containers will be pre -cooled and transported to the site in the cooler. All samples will
be preserved if necessary as indicated on Table 1 and placed in a refrigerated container
immediately after collection. Chemical ice sealed in plastic and/or ice will be used to cool and
maintain samples at a temperature of approximately 4°C. Temperature will be measured by
laboratory upon receipt.
5.0 CHAIN OF CUSTODY PROCEDURES
5.1 Sample Labels
Each sample container will be labeled prior to filling to prevent misidentification. The label will
contain at least the following information:
- Sample number which uniquely identifies the sample
- Project title or number
- Location or sample collection
- Soil boring or well number, as applicable
- Name of collector
- Date and times of collection
- Type of analysis requested
G:\GROUNDZE\LIONUDAKIS\WorkPlan\QAQC.doe
2
