0 0
Comments regarding final note on"Continuation- Official Hazardous Waste Inspection Report
page 7"
With regard to hazardous waste labeling, the last note claims that Jerry Richards—HWH states
"Management told me to stop labeling them." THIS IS A MISQUOTE, WHICH HAS ALSO
BEEN TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT. RESULTING IN A FALSE IMPRESSION OF WHAT
WAS DONE AND REPORTED TO THE INSPECTOR.
Hazardous waste drums are labeled when placed in the storage area awaiting a disposal pickup.
The labels placed on the drums contain only the information necessary for their 90 day residence
at Interlake. They do not contain DOT shipping information. The hazardous waste disposal
company applies its own labels to insure the correct DOT information.
To speed loading for shipment, a former manager instructed Mr. Richards to remove our labels
just prior to a shipment so the containers would be ready for the shipping companies labels. This
was improper as it left the drums unlabeled for the short period between calling the disposal
company and the arrival of its truck. This activity was discovered during the inspection as
Interlake was preparing a shipment of hazardous waste. It has been corrected.
This is greatly different from the impression of the quote and the explanation given to the
inspector.
