Kennedy/Jenks Consultants <br /> • AOI 7— Support: Five soil borings will be advanced to assess whether undocumented <br /> operations associated with former oil storage and transmission infrastructure (including <br /> oil storage tanks and transmission pipelines; former railroad-related maintenance and <br /> repair facilities, such as the undesignated structures near the former track area; and <br /> possible waste management structures, such as settling tanks and a pump house) may <br /> have resulted in a release of organic compounds and/or metals. One boring will be <br /> advanced in each of the following areas: <br /> ■ Settling tanks <br /> • Pump house <br /> ■ Oil storage tanks and transmission line <br /> ■ Support building area, near the tracks (2 borings) <br /> Soil samples will be collected at four depth intervals (0 to 0.5 feet, 2 to 3 feet, 5 to 6 feet, <br /> and 10 to 11 feet bgs), and analyzed for TPHd, TPHmo, VOCs, SVOCs and Title 22 total <br /> metals. One boring will be chosen for collection of a groundwater sample. The <br /> groundwater sample will be analyzed for TPHd, TPHmo, and VOCs. <br /> • AOI 8—Track: Two soil borings will be advanced in this AOI to explore the potential for <br /> undocumented releases associated with the railroad tracks. Soil samples will be <br /> collected at two depth intervals (0 to 0.5 feet and 2 to 3 feet bgs). Soil samples will be <br /> analyzed for TPHd, TPHmo and Title 22 total metals. Groundwater sampling is not <br /> proposed at this time. If soil analyses suggest site-related impacts, future evaluation of <br /> groundwater may be warranted. <br /> 2.1.3 Operable Units 3 and 4 <br /> Due to the historic presence of railroad tracks in these areas, soil borings will be advanced in <br /> each OU to explore the potential for impacts associated with railcar operations. Kennedy/Jenks <br /> will advance three soil borings in OU-3 and four soil borings in OU-4. Soil samples will be <br /> collected at two depth intervals (0 to 0.5 feet bgs and 2 to 3 feet bgs). Soil samples will be <br /> analyzed for TPHd, TPHmo, total arsenic, and total lead. Additionally, soil samples from one <br /> boring in OU-4 will be analyzed for VOCs and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), as requested <br /> by DTSC. Groundwater sampling is not proposed at this time.
