Kennedy/Jenks Consultants
• AOI 7— Support: Five soil borings will be advanced to assess whether undocumented
operations associated with former oil storage and transmission infrastructure (including
oil storage tanks and transmission pipelines; former railroad-related maintenance and
repair facilities, such as the undesignated structures near the former track area; and
possible waste management structures, such as settling tanks and a pump house) may
have resulted in a release of organic compounds and/or metals. One boring will be
advanced in each of the following areas:
■ Settling tanks
• Pump house
■ Oil storage tanks and transmission line
■ Support building area, near the tracks (2 borings)
Soil samples will be collected at four depth intervals (0 to 0.5 feet, 2 to 3 feet, 5 to 6 feet,
and 10 to 11 feet bgs), and analyzed for TPHd, TPHmo, VOCs, SVOCs and Title 22 total
metals. One boring will be chosen for collection of a groundwater sample. The
groundwater sample will be analyzed for TPHd, TPHmo, and VOCs.
• AOI 8—Track: Two soil borings will be advanced in this AOI to explore the potential for
undocumented releases associated with the railroad tracks. Soil samples will be
collected at two depth intervals (0 to 0.5 feet and 2 to 3 feet bgs). Soil samples will be
analyzed for TPHd, TPHmo and Title 22 total metals. Groundwater sampling is not
proposed at this time. If soil analyses suggest site-related impacts, future evaluation of
groundwater may be warranted.
2.1.3 Operable Units 3 and 4
Due to the historic presence of railroad tracks in these areas, soil borings will be advanced in
each OU to explore the potential for impacts associated with railcar operations. Kennedy/Jenks
will advance three soil borings in OU-3 and four soil borings in OU-4. Soil samples will be
collected at two depth intervals (0 to 0.5 feet bgs and 2 to 3 feet bgs). Soil samples will be
analyzed for TPHd, TPHmo, total arsenic, and total lead. Additionally, soil samples from one
boring in OU-4 will be analyzed for VOCs and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), as requested
by DTSC. Groundwater sampling is not proposed at this time. If soil analyses suggest site-
related impacts, future evaluation of groundwater may be warranted.
Remedial Investigation Work Plan Page 10
Former Tracy Railyard, Tracy, California
g:Gs•groWkadminyob10510565777.03_rprrl0-rep lwork planVi 6naWAdoc
