Tri-Valley Growers March 25, 1987
-Page 3 of 10 Quote No. 6225G
Task 2.3 Monitoring Wells
Three (3) groundwater monitoring wells will be constructed in the
exploration borings. All monitoring wells will be built under permit
requirements of the Sari Joaquin County Health Department. The wells will
be constructed of 2 inch flush threaded PVC pipe; no glues or solvents will be
used. After drilling the boring to the desired depth the PVC casing will be
installed through the hollow stem. The auger will then be removed and the
natural formation used to form the sand pack. The sand pack will be
installed to a level approximately one to two feet above the slotted screen
section where bentonite will be used as a seal. The remaining portion of the
annular space will be sealed with a neat cement and bentonite grout. The top
of the well will be set in a traffic rated box at grade with an internal
locking cover to provide security. County regulations require that a County
Inspector be on site to observe the placement of the well seals. The County
will bill the Client for the Inspectors time at a rate of $35.00/hour. This fee
is in addition to the prices listed herein.
Task 2.4 Well Qgvelopment
After construction, the wells will be developed to improve the hydraulic
conductivity between the wells and the natural formation. The development
will consist of manually bailing or mechanically pumping to remove residual
silts and clays left from the drilling operations. At least ten (10) well
volumes of groundwater will be removed. After development, the well will
be allowed to recharge for approximately 24 hours, enabling Exceltech to
collect a representative water sample and to measure the thickness of any
floating product. Any contaminated water resulting from the development of
the wells will be placed in drums (provided by the Client or available from
Exceltech at extra cost). It shall be the responsibility of the Client to
properly dispose of any contaminated water. Exceltech can assist the client
in the disposal of any contaminated material on a time and material cost
basis.
