t
26200 Galt Road
November 1997
Page 2
The work plan indicated that selected samples would be submitted for laboratory analysis
using EPA Methods 8015-M (TPH-gas) and 8020 (BTEX). While considerable attention has
been paid to the oxygenate methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) other oxygenates were
commonly used during the operation of the former underground storage tanks,including 1,2-
dibromoethane (EDB) and 1,2-dichloroethane (DCA) and can be detected using EPA Method
8260. Please modify the analytical scope to include EPA Method 8260 analysis of selected ;
samples.
PIease submit the additional information requested and a drilling permit application along
with the $89 permit fee. Once a permit has been issued,field activities may be scheduled. At
the completion of field activities, PHS/EHD shall be contacted to discuss the selection of soil
and groundwater samples which will undergo laboratory analysis. }
Please proceed with efforts to complete the Underground Storage Tanks Cleanup Fund
application. Should you require any information or assistance, please do not hesitate to contact
me. The State Water Resources Control Board issues pre-approval for work which may
potentially be reimbursable, since Tri-Valley has already spent funds in excess of the required
deductible, pre-approval from the Cleanup Fund Unit should be sought.
If you have any questions,please contact me at (209) 4680337. 1
Donna Heran,'REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
X`Meays, nior REHS ;Vrgaretgorio, REHS
Site Mitigation Unit Supervisor
cc: Pat Anderson,CVRWQCB
Gary Haeck, Harding Larson Associates
i
