Working To Restore Nature
Groundwater samples were collected from monitoring wells MW1 and MW6, from influent
well MW4 (TVGT-TNF) and from the effluent ports (EFF-1 C and EFF-2C) on June 21, 1994
after stabilization of pH, electrical conductivity (EC) and temperature The monitoring wells
were purged using an above-ground centrifugal pump with dedicated tubing Well purge logs
are included in Attachment A Samples were analyzed for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene,
and xylenes (BTEX) and total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) by EPA methods
8020 and modified 8015, respectively
ANALYTICAL RESULTS
No dissolved gasoline hydrocarbon constituents were reported at or above detection limits in
monitoring wells MW 1 or MW6 Laboratory data are summarized in Table 2
Analytical results indicate a general decrease in TPHg and BTEX concentrations in the
influent sample collected during this sampling round The sample collected from carbon filter
1 (EFF1C) contained benzene (1 2 ppb) Petroleum hydrocarbon analytes were not present
in the sample collected from carbon filter 2 (EFF2C) Influent BTEX and TPHg
concentrations over time are plotted on Figures 5 and 6
. Laboratory analyses were performed by Sequoia Analytical Laboratory (ELAP No 1210)
The analytical results are summarized in Table 2, the laboratory reports and chain of custody
documentation are presented in Attachment B
REMEDIATION SYSTEM PERFORMANCE
The system was down on only one occasion during the quarter On June 21, 1994 upon
arrival at the site the system was down due to an electrical surge which tapped the breaker
A flow meter was installed during the quarter and system maintenance and repair was
conducted on several occasions
On April 5 the system was operating at 0 75 Ppm when the technician arrived at the site
The compressor was drained and the system lines and pump were cleaned The system was
restarted at a rate of 3 5 Ppm
On April 12 the system was operating at 3 5 Ppm upon arrival at the site Repairs were
completed on wells MW 1 and MW2 and the street grade christy box on well MW2 was
replaced Both wells were resurveyed after repair work had been completed
On April 15 a flowmeter was installed at the site The initial meter reading was 32 7 gallons
I 1521021QRTLYI2QR-1994 FNL 2
