' November 18, 2004 ICES 2832 <br /> 1 <br /> WORK PLAN <br /> PRELIMINARY SITE INVESTIGATION <br /> UNIVERSAL FOREST PRODUCTS <br /> 25200 NOWELL ROAD <br /> THORNTON, CALIFORNIA <br /> 1 <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> At the request of Universal Forest Products ( "the Client" ) , <br /> Innovative and Creative Environmental Solutions (ICES) has <br /> prepared this work Plan to conduct a preliminary site <br /> investigation at the Universal Forest Products facility located <br /> at 26200 Nowell Road in Thornton, California (the "Site" , Figure <br /> 1) . <br /> The purpose of the investigation is to define the extent of the <br /> petroleum-affected soil and groundwater in the vicinity of the <br /> former 10, 000-gallon underground storage tank (UST) within the <br /> Site. <br /> 2.0 SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> The Site is located just north of the Peltier Road exit off the <br /> eastern side of Interstate Five. The Universal Forest Products <br />' finished lumber processing plant currently occupies the Site <br /> 3.0 BACKGROUND <br /> Wright Environmental Services, Inc . of Tracy, California removed <br /> one 10, 000-gallon UST on June 15, 2004 During the removal of <br /> the UST, visually contaminated soil was observed within the <br /> sidewalls of the excavation. Soil overlying and surrounding the <br /> UST was temporarily stockpiled adjacent to the UST excavation. <br /> A total of four soil samples were collected from the UST <br /> excavation. One sample was collected from the native soil at a <br /> 1 <br />
