r SW/ `Moe
#6+ 08 ,lune 2003
AGE-NC Project No.02-0961
• B5 was advanced 20 feet northeast of the furthest east dispenser location.
Iw The boring locations are depicted on Figure 2.
w
3.2. SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
Samples were collected from the borings at discreet five-foot intervals using a 1.125"Geoprobe soil
sampling assembly loaded with four six-inch brass sleeves. All sampling equipment was washed in
' an Alconox solution and rinsed twice with water prior to each sampling run.
LV
For each soil sample collected, both ends of the second or other selected sleeve were covered with
Teflon sheets, capped and sealed with tape. The samples were labeled, stored on ice and transported
LM under chain-of-custody to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories (CTEL) a State of California
Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified analytical laboratory. Selected samples were
analyzed for:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline(TPH-g)and as diesel(TPH-d)in accordance with
EPA Method 8015 Modified; and
• Benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene and total xylenes(BTEX)and the fuel additives methyl-tert-
butyl ether(MTBE), tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary
butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME),1,2-dibromoethane (EDB) and
1,2-dichloro ethane (1,2-DCA) in accordance with EPA Method 8260B.
r6V
3.3. SOIL LOGGING
'-' After sample preservation, soil was extruded from the remaining sleeves and field-screened utilizing
an organic vapor analyzer (OVA) equipped with a photo-ionization detector (PID: Thermo
Environmental 580A, 10.0 eV, calibrated to isobutylene). The soil was also described visually in
L" accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System. Soil boring logs exhibiting soil profiles are
depicted in Appendix A.
3.4. GRAB GROUND WATER COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
After probing to a depth of 30 feet bsg, ground water was found to be at approximately 28 feet bsg.
A `grab' ground water sample was collected from each boring. The ground water sample was
extracted by lowering an inertia pump down a temporarily installed,one-inch diameter PVC casing
with a 5-foot long,0.01-slotted well screen at the lower end or a hydro punch sampling tool equipped
with a 1.5 foot length of 0.01-slotted well screen. Each ground water sample was transferred into
i..
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
L=
