PHS/EHD has the
following comments for your consideration. p
The report included the results of groundwater samples collected during the August 5, 1994 sampling event.
Groundwater contamination continued to be evidenced; however, a gradient change was observed. During the
May sampling event the gradient direction was observed to the southwest and during the August sampling event
the gradient direction was observed to have changed to the northwest. The rep rt suggested that groundwater
elevation measurements be collected monthly during the third quarter, September - November 1994 to determine
if there is a consistent gradient direction prior to the installation of additional monitoring wells. PHS/EHD
concurs with this suggestion and furthermore, requests that a well survey#be conducted and results included in F
the next quarterly report along with a work plan to install additional moriitoringi wells and soil borings to
determine the extent of the soil and groundwater contamination plumes.
If you have any questions, please contact Mary Meays at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division '
. b
Mary Meays, Senior REHS Diane M.
