Vicki McCartney [EH]
From: Vicki McCartney [EH]
Sent: Wednesday, July 16, 2008 11:44 AM
To: 'William Little'
Cc: 'Jim Barton'; Nuel Henderson [EH]
Subject: RE: Ripon Farm Service-.UST
Bill:
This morning I discussed the Ripon Farm Service ESL results, submitted in the email below, with Jim
Barton. Although the conformation soil samples collected between fivesand fifteen feet below surface grade
(bsg)were non-detect for contaminants of concern, TPH-diesel was detected in confirmation samples CB1-20,
CB2-20, CB3-20, and CB5-20 at concentrations above the ESI_concentration of 83 mg/kg for TPH middle
distillates" Considering these results, Jim Barton believes it best to collect soil vapor samples prior to site closure
consideration.
Also, TPH-diesel was detected at 2600 ug/L in groundwater samples collected from MW-2 during the May 2008
sampling event; so Bill, please direct the field technician to include the analysis for TPH-d when sampling MW-2
during the third quarter 2008 sampling event. Thank you. The
shallow soil from five and ten feet bsg were non-detect (for all constituents) and therefore at not
useful for an ESL survey and generally preclude the requirement for soil vapor samples. AGE
has received you letter regarding the residual soil impact a`nd potential risk to shallow ground
water. Shallow ground water has demonstrated relatively minor detections of TPH-d since the
remediation. However, AGE will.prepare a model for this site characteristic within a closure
summary report.
r
I Thank you for the correspondence.
William Little `
Geologist ;
l
4 -
i
7/16/2008
