(AGE) on your behalf for the above-referenced site. In the
revised report, total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as diesel (TPH-d) were reported by
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) method 8015M; total petroleum hydrocarbons
quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) were reported by EPA method 826013; and the individual
analytes [benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes (BTEX); methyl tertiary-butyl ether
(MTBE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), di-isopropyl
ether (DIPE), tertiary-butyl alcohol (TBA), 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB), 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-
DCA), and isopropyl alcohol] were reported by EPA method 8260E for the three soil gas
samples (VP-1, VP-2, and VP-3) collected at the above-referenced site.
Chromatograms for the three soil gas samples and the associated method blank and
continuing calibration standards for the 8260 compounds and TPH-g were included in the
revised report; however, the chromatograms for the associated TPH-d continuing calibration
standards and quality assurance/quality control samples [laboratory control sample/laboratory
control sample duplicate (LCS/LCSD) and matrix spike/matrix spike duplicate samples
(MS/MSD)] were not provided.
Please submit the gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) chromatograms for the
TPH-d initial calibration curve, continuing calibration standards, method blanks, LCS/LCSD
and MS/MSD that are associated with the three soil gas samples.
Also, please clarify the statement "On review of the analytical data with the laboratory and
review of GC-MS methodology; gasoline range organic (GRO) response from the EPA 8260B
analysis for these samples was superior in detections of volatile compounds when compared
to the response for EPA 8015M method; otherwise the reported concentrations of TPH-GRO
