PHS/EHD has the following comments for your consideration.
The quarterly report included the results of the February 24, 1995 sampling event which continued to evidence
petroleum hydrocarbon contamination in all three existing monitoring wells, MW1 - MW3. The gradient
direction was calculated and it was determined that it shifted from northwesterly to southwesterly.
The interim work plan proposed the drilling of four soil borings, two of which would be completed into
monitoring wells. The borings and monitoring wells should provide information to further determine the
extent of soil and groundwater contamination associated with the former underground storage tanks. Please
be informed that additional monitoring wells, to the South of MW1 and to the north of MW2 and MW3 may
be necessary, in order to determine the full extent of groundwater contamination.
Please note that the permit issued to Mitchell Drilling expires on April 27, 1995 and should you wish to
perform field work after the expiration date or to change the drilling contractor, a permit application and $89
fee should be submitted.
Please contact me at (209) 468-0337 if you have further questions or wish to schedule a site inspection.
Donna Heran, REHS Director
Environmental Health Division
v
Mary Meays, Senior REHSt DianeeKinson, RE S
Site Mitigation Unit Supervisor
MM12287HIIA
cc: Elizabeth Thayer, CVRWQCB, 3443 Routier Road Suite A, Sacramento CA 95827
cc: John Trump, 2280 Union Street, San Francisco CA 94123
cc: Bob Marty, 1803 March Lane Suite A, Stockton CA 95207
A Division of San Joaquin County health Care Services
