FROM,, : Ground Zero Analysis PHONE NO. 209 838 9883 Dec. 17 2003 05:46PM P2
GROUND ZERO ANALYSIS,INC.
1714 Main Street
Escalon,California 95320.1927
Telephone:(209)838-9888
F'atsimile:(209)838-9883
December 17,2003
Mr.James L.L. Barton
Regional Water Quality Control Board
Central Valley Region
3443 Routier Road, Suite A
Sacramento, CA 958273003
I
Subject: Weekly Progress Update
Speedy Foods, 8200 N. Highway 99, Stockton, CA
Dear Mr.Barton:
Pursuant to your letter dated December 3,2003,the following summarizes system operation during
the period December 6.2003 through December 17,2003.
The gaskets on the GAC manways were replaced on December 10, 2003 and the system passed the
pressure test. The 200-pound polish QAC wait was plumbed into the system.
I
The system was re-started December 11, 2003 at approximately 11:15 a.m. Regional Board and
San Joaquin County EHD staff were present during the re-start. Samples were collected from.Cl,
C2, and the system effluent (EFF) at approximately 12:42 p.m and analyzed for VOCs. No VOCs
were detected in the samples collected from C2 or the effluent. The sample collected from C1
contained 1.0 ppb benzene, which is likely a remnant from the system due to the previous break
through of the carbon. Regional Board and EHD staff were notified via voicernail of the results.
Mr. Barton of the Regional Board and John Lane of Ground Zero discussed the results and
determiner)that the system should remain operationalpending re-sampling on December 15,2003.
Samples collected from C1, C2, and EFF on December 15, 2003 were ND for all VOCs. Samples
will again be collected from Cl, C2, and EFF on December 18, 2003 pursuant to Regional Board
temporary requirements.
Tables 1 and 2,attached, summarize treatment system flow and analytical data collected to date.
