To date, this well receptor survey has not been rcceivcd
by County or Regional Board staffs. Your on-site water supply well is impacted with gasoline and
methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE), and may be acting as a conduit for shallow contamination to pollute
the deeper groundwater aquifer(s).
The high concentration of gasoline range petroleum hydrocarbons and MtBE, documented in
groundwater at your site, threatens public health and beneficial uses of the groundwater resource. There
are numerous domestic use water supply wells and surface water features in the vicinity of your site,
which may facilitate human exposure to the contamination or more rapid contaminant migration.
In accordance with Section 13267 of the California Water Code, you are directed to:
1_ Submit a plan and schedule to replace the water supply at the Speedy Mart with an alternate
(potable) water supply by 26 May 2000,
2. Submit a complete sensitive receptor survey of all water supply wells and sensitive receptors
located within 2,000 feet of your site boundaries by 26 June 2000.
3. Complete Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring and Sampling of the four on-site monitoring wells,
and provide a report of quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling activities and analytical
results by 26 dune 2000. All wells must be sampled and analyzed for TPHg and BTEX by EPA
Methods 8015/8021 or 8260B, and for all fuel oxygenates, ethanol, methanol, 1,2-DCA, and
EDB by EPA Method 8260B.
4. Subunit a workplan to define the vertical and lateral extent of the contamination both on-site and
off-site by 26 dune 2000,
California Environmental Protection Agency
0 Recycled Paper
