Three water samples were collected using a bailer from the
supply well on the above-referenced site at 72 feet below surface grade (bsg), 90 feet bsg,
and 222 feet bsg. Analytical results of the groundwater sample from 90 feet bsg using EPA
Method 8020 were 0.7 parts per billion (ppb) of Benzene and 86 ppb of Methyl tert Butyl
Ether(MTBE), and results of the sample from 222 feet bsg were 1.6 ppb of Benzene,63
ppb of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g), and 120 ppb of MTBE.
California Department of Health Services has established the primary Maximum
Contaminant Level (MCL) in drinking water for Benzene at 1 ppb, and the primary MCL for
MTBE at 13 ppb (effective May 17,2000). PHS/EHD strongly recommends that you do
not use the water from the contaminated supply well for food preparation, bathing,or
drinking.
Please contact Jeffrey Wong at (209) 468-0335 if you have any questions.
Donna Heran, RENS,Director
Environmental Health Division
Jeffrey Wang , REHS Margaret gono, RENS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
c: RWQa, Central Valley Region- Marty Hartzell
c: Ground Zero Analysis,Inc. -John Lane
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
