The Report recommends that "Based on
results of the influent and effluent samples collected since November 2003...WDRs be modifred to waive PAHs,
chloride, nitrate, and sulfate from the sampling and reporting requirements." Table 2 (attached) shows the results
of sampling under the Order.
Table 2 shows that influent and effluent sampling for Carcinogenic Poly Aromatic Hydrocarbons(PAHs) has not
demonstrated compliance with the Order due to elevated detection limits, which are at least two orders of
magnitude above 0.5 micrograms per Liter(gg/L). Therefore your request is denied. Continue, testing for PAHs.
Table 2 also shows an increase in influent and effluent chloride, nitrates and sulfate in November 2004 and
December 2004. These increases coincide with the carbon changeout for the treatment system and the addition of
extraction well EX-2. Your request is denied. Continue testing for all general minerals, including chloride, nitrates
and sulfate.
If you have any questions, please telephone me at(916)464-4615, or email me at jbarton@waterboards.ca.gov.
JAMES L.
