FORMER CHEVRON USA STATION 6155 <br /> STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> This report summarizes the results of Woodward-Clyde Consultants (WCC) <br /> environmental assessment of shallow soilsCard ha groundwater at the <br /> former Chevron Service Station located along US Highway 99 north of Morada <br /> Lane in Stockton, California (Figure 1) . <br /> 1.1 Object and Scope of Work <br /> f <br /> The object of this investigation was to explore the shallow soils and <br /> j existing documentation on shallow groundwater at the former Chevron USA <br /> Service Station 6155 for petroleum products. To complete this task, four <br /> soil borings were drilled on the property at locations specified by Chevron <br /> USA Inc. (Figure 2) . While drilling, a WCC geologist collected soil <br /> samples from each boring for chemical analysis and prepared a field log <br /> describing the materials encountered using the Unified Soil Classification <br /> System. Chemical analyses of selected soil samples from the four borings <br /> were conducted by I.T. Corporation at their California Department of Health <br /> t Services (DOHS) certified environmental laboratory in San Jose, <br /> California. The samples were analyzed for benzene, toluene, and- combined <br /> ethyl benzene and xylenes (BTEX) , and low boiling point hydrocarbons <br /> (gasoline) . Soil samples from Boring C-A, drilled adjacent to. the former <br /> i waste oil and fuel oil tanks, were also analyzed for high boiling point <br /> hydrocarbons and volatile halocarbons. In addition to the field <br /> ' activities, available information concerning the regional hydrogeologic <br /> setting was reviewed. The results of WCC's background study, field <br /> investigation, and the I.T. Corporation chemical analyses are summarized <br /> below. <br /> 2 <br />
