REPORT OF FINDINGS FROM THE MW#1 aka UST-1
First Half Sampling Event Sampled 6/09103
Water Sampling and Analysis
Water samples from MW#1 were extracted by Del-Tech Geotechnical Support Services on 06109103.
The samples were transported under chain of custody to Sherwood Labs.Pump purge rates were one
G.P.M. Depth to the water surface was 50.21' with a+/-4'stickup on the casing. The water table at
the time of sampling was about 46' below the surface. TPHd and BTEX were analyzed by EPA
Methods M8100 and SW8020 by Sherwood Labs in house.
Findings from Sample Analysis
Analysis by all of the above methods resulted in non-detect status for each of the analytes.
Conclusions from this Groundwater Sample Analysis
The laboratory results from this sample period are non-detect as were the results of the first two sets
ofwater samples extracted from this monitoring well. The analysis ofthe groundwater samples from
the 3/01/2002 were rejected due to the fear of contaminated samples in the laboratory. The
groundwater elevation has lowered about two feet. From samples taken for the RWQCB it was
determined that the surface water in MW#1 contains +/- 25 ug/L on Nitrate (NO3). Nitrate is an
electron acceptor for the bio-reaction of hydrocarbons. If any hydrocarbons were present in the
groundwater, they would soon be remediated by a very active bio-rdaction due to the presence of
a nitrate electron acceptor.
Four out of a total of five groundwater samples have been analyzed as non-detect for all analytes.
The author feels it is safe to conclude that the spill from the UST did not reach the groundwater or
if it did, it was remediated.
Recommendations and General Conditions
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department issued a letter on June 9, 2003 directing
more sampling events and a mass volume calculation for contaminated soil. It is the opinion of this
author that any additional money spent on this particular investigation would be wasteful, and
should be better spent on moving on toward the goal of making this property a productive element
of the community.
Please contact Ervin Rifenburg of this office(2091368-9381)if any questions arise concerning this
Work Plan,
1.10fEssror
Respectfully sub 'tted, ;° ,iv%F q
Fo g
ac
t4o. 1976 a
Ervin fenb g,
Enclosures: UFC
1.
