Site Code: 1627
11396 Hwy 99 Frontage Rd N. RO#: 538
Lodi, CA. 95240 CUF#: 015089
On November 19, 2002, a San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department (EHD) representative met with you and your consultant to discuss
this site and the continuing subsurface investigation of the fuel release from the
former underground storage tanks (UST).
Topics discussed at the meeting included: (1) your request for "No Further
Action" (NFA) at the former diesel UST; (2) vertical and lateral impacted soil and
groundwater delineation; (3) EHD concerns regarding the `supply well' and the
`unused' drinking water well at the site; (4) identification of other nearby
receptors; and (5) the placement of additional monitoring wells at and around the
site.
For clarification purposes, EHD will address each of these concerns in order
given above:
(1) Your request for "No Further Action"(NFA) of the former diesel UST;
The former diesel UST site appears to be a candidate for closure consideration,
but EHD requests the following additional information as the over-excavation was
performed without EHD oversight, soil samples were not collected from the floor
of the over-excavation, and additional work in the area is needed as part of the
gasoline UST investigation. EHD requests that during the next phase of the
gasoline release investigation, grab groundwater samples be collected near and
down gradient of the former diesel UST and be analyzed for Total Petroleum
Hydrocarbons as diesel (TPH-d) by EPA Method 8015m. If it can be verified that
diesel is not present at a detection limit of 50 µg11 in the groundwater samples, no
further investigation for the former diesel UST release will be required. Closure
documentation for the diesel UST will be included in the gasoline UST closure
documents when that investigation/remediation is completed.
