Hwy 99
Manteca, CA 95336
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD)
has reviewed Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Reports" dated November 30, 1992,
December 1, 1992, and February 18, 1993 prepared by Aegis Environmental, Inc. (Aegis)
for the above referenced site.
It appears that this site has a divergent gradient (northeast, west, southwest, southeast).
Levels of contamination evidenced in the water sample results increase and decrease with
the change in gradient direction.
In a letter dated August 21, 1992 PHS/EHD requested additional contaminants be added
to those being currently analyzed for in the groundwater samples. In the same letter
additional information and sampling of the on-site well was requested. To date the
additional analysis requested, information requested, and sampling of the on-site well has
not been addressed. A copy of the August 21, 1992 letter is enclosed for your reference.
In the "Problem Assessment Report" dated June 26, 1992, prepared by Aegis for this site,
it listed variables that needed further determination before a "Final Remediation Plan"
could be prepared. Since that time the only site activity has been quarterly sampling. It
is evident from the soil sample•results obtained during the underground storage tank
removal and the installation of the monitoring wells that soil contamination exists 17 feet
below ground surface (bgs). Seasonal high groundwater, according to "San Joaquin
County Flood Control Map Spring 1986' is 15 feet bgs. Current first groundwater is
about 33 feet bgs. The soil at the site should be remediated before groundwater levels
rise.
A atvmm of San Joaquta county Heath rare 5erwces
