31 March 2005
AGE-NC Project No 03-1080
' 29 feet bsg in B3
• Significant concentrations of TPH-g and TPH-d and a lesser concentration of xylenes were
detected in the soil sample collected from boring B 1 at 15 feet bsg, east of dispenser D 1 In ,
' addition, significant concentrations of TPH-g and TPH-d,as well as lesser concentrations of
ethylbenzene, xylenes,MTBE,and 1,2-DCA were detected in the groundwater sample taken
from boring B 1
' The lateral extent of soil and ground water contamination in the dispenser area is defined to
the west by boring 132
' The vertical extent of hydrocarbon-impacted soil is defined in boring Bl, as no
contamination was detected below 15 feet bsg in the samples analyzed
' AGE contacted CTEL regarding the low to non-detectable concentrations of BTEX
compounds in the soil and groundwater samples relative to the TPH-g concentrations CTEL
confirmed that the petroleum hydrocarbon products detected in the analyzed samples were
taged or degraded AGE concludes that the contamination found in soil borings at the
dispenser locations is possibly residual contamination left from the previous leaking UST
investigation A copy of the confirmation letter from CTEL is included in Appendix F
6.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
1
Based on information collected during this investigation and from records on file with the EHD,
t AGE recommends no further action in regards to the current investigation in the dispensers- and
piping-excavation areas The petroleum hydrocarbon products detected in soil boring samples appear
to be aged or degraded, and contaminant concentrations are comparable to the estimated residual
!' mass values calculated when the site was closed in December 1998 i
' 7.0. LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
' environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings were based upon
analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluation of the geologic/hydrologic
' conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation was made from a limited number of
available data points(i a soil and ground water) No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made
as to the professional interpretation, opinions, and recommendations contained in this report
1
' Advanced GeoEvironmental,Inc
