Infurna
San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Department
304 East Weber Avenue, 3`d Floor
Stockton, California 95202-2708
Re: Status of Site Investigation, St. Francis Motel(UIC septic),
5708 North Highway 99 Frontage Road, Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Infurna:
I have been informed that Mr. Patel has finally exhumed the septic tank system so that we can identify
the inlet and outlet effluent pathways and D box location associated with the septic tank that received
disposal fluids from room#108. In your letter from San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division(PHSEHD) dated June 14, 2005 you instructed Mr. Patel to have the
septic tank cleaned out so that visual inspection of the tank floor and sidewalls could be made.
We would like permission to collect a PHSEHD-witnessed water and sludge sample of the contents of
the septic tank prior to cleaning the septic tank out in preparation of the floor and sidewall inspection to
determine if the sludge and effluent can be disposed of at a municipal wastewater treatment plant.
We propose to collect a single sludge and single water sample and have these analyzed using USEPA
Test Methods 8260B, 300.0, 345.1, SM4500-1 B, and 8015M.
If the analytical results from the sludge and liquid samples indicate the balance of the sludge and
effluent contained in the septic tank can be disposed of at the municipal wastewater treatment plant then
we propose to immediately clean the septic tank in accordance with instructions contained in your
letter dated June 14, 2005 and have PHSEHD inspect the tank. We would also then proceed with the
soil sampling program as outlined in our PHSEHD-approved workplan including comments in the
PHSEHD letter dated June 14, 2005.
Main\D\Environmental\St.FrancisMotel\100305.wpd 1
