III. OWNER/OP BATOR: <br /> Stockton, Plating, Inc. has only one manufacturing and repair <br /> shop which is located in central Stockton. Stockton Plating, <br /> Inc. has� been in operation since 1954 and occupies two city <br /> blocks and employs over fifty (50) people. <br /> Robert Huntley is the Administrative Manager. <br /> IV. BACKGROUND: <br /> A hazardous waste inspection of this facility was performed <br /> by Charles Hunt and Letitia Resch of PHS-EHD in 1990. At <br /> that time, a violation of Title 22 , California Administrative <br /> Code, Section 67105 (c) , 67105 (d) was noted. Management was <br /> not comleting annual reviews for initial training of <br /> personne responsible for hazardous waste storage, handling <br /> and emergency procedures. <br /> One spill of a copper solution to the soil had been recorded <br /> in 1987. 1 The spill was approximately 100 gallons. Spill <br /> remediation and evaluation included removal of approximately <br /> 3 yards of soil and soil sampling. The soil sampling results <br /> were submitted to the Department of Health Services in August <br /> of 1987 for evaluation and further action. <br /> V. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF FACILITY: <br /> This facility repairs metal automobile bumpers, urethane <br /> bumpers, and custom parts in addition to manufacturing parts. <br /> The damaged metal bumper is initially received and stored at <br /> the facility. The bumpers are repaired in an assembly line <br /> process which involves dent removal, grinding, sanding, <br /> polishing, and cleaning. The bumper is then ready for <br /> plating. ) The bumper is plated with 3 different metals: <br /> copper, ickel, and chrome. There is also an aluminum <br /> anodizing shop for repairing and plating aluminum bumpers, <br /> grills, and parts. Once the bumper has been repaired and <br /> plated, it is wrapped, stored, and eventually shipped off <br /> site. <br /> StocktonPlating, Inc. also repairs urethane bumpers in the <br /> south building. The bumpers are reformed into the desired <br /> shape, sanded, cleaned, and painted. <br /> The "job shop" is located near the aluminum shop in the <br /> central north area of the facility. Custom parts are <br /> manufactufred, repaired, cleaned, and prepared for plating. <br /> The "job 'shop" is a metal shop with lathes, drill presses, <br /> and all the necessary machinery required for metal working <br /> and partslmanufacturing. <br /> 2 <br />
