Box 2148
Lodi, CA 95241
Dear Mr. Stark:
By now you have received your copy of the 4 August 1994 letter addres-ed to Patricia Leary
of the California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region, detailing the
cause of the 6 July 1j994 release of process water to Bear Creek and the steps that have
been taken to prevenjt a recurrence of the incident. I believe that the information contained in
that letter should be adequate to address any additional questions that you may have had
related to the relea4 In previous cor, espondence, however, I had indicated that I would
prepare a final report for your office indicating the results of our clean-up efforts and provide
you with copies of the{ analytical results that were obtained from the creek subsequent to the
clean-up. Toward thIt end, Tri Valley Growers provides the following information:
On 11 July 19941 Bear Creek was examined by Tri Valley Growers Environmental
Department staff and found to be clear, clean, and consistent with its past
appearance. Th aesthetics of the creek had been restored and wildlife was healthy
and active alongits banks. Water samples of the creek were taken in two (2)
locations; East ofthe railroad trestle and South of the railroad trestle near the natural
vegetation berm that had contained the original release. A 96 hour Bioassay was
performed along with BOD, COD, Total Suspended Solids, and Suffite. Analytical
results (see attachment) showed the creek no longer had high levels of BOD or COD
and the Bioassay' showed greater than 95% survival.
At this time, Tri Valley Growers considers Bear Creek to be restored to its original condition.
If I can provide furthe information please contact me at (209) 572-5514.
Sincerely,
Christopher J.
