TR PLEASE ADDRESS REPLY TO: <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES <br /> VA LEY POST OFFICE BOX 1211 <br /> 7W,GR WERS,Y, MODESTO,CALIFORNIA 95353 <br /> September 12 , 1989 <br /> David Cara eo <br /> Office of Emergency Services <br /> Room 601 , Courthouse J <br /> 222 East Weber Avenue <br /> Stockton, CA 95202 SEP 141983 <br /> Refer to : State Control Number - 07872 <br /> National Response Center Report No. - 16142 <br /> Gentlemen/Madam: <br /> This is a follow-up report of a chlorine (CAS 7782-50-5 ) <br /> release that occurred at the Tri Valley Growers , Plant 4 , located <br /> at 3200 Eight Mile Road, Stockton, CA 95212 . <br /> The incident occurred on September 12 , 1989 at 9 : 00 A.M. . <br /> An electrician was repairing a chlorine flow meter and forgot to <br /> shut off the main valve. Chlorine leaked at the flow meter that <br /> was being repaired and the electrician was exposed to the <br /> chlorine and had difficulty breathing and was brought to the <br /> hospital . Two other employees near the area were also exposed to <br /> chlorine at a lesser degree and were also brought to the hospital <br /> for observation and have been released. <br /> It is difficult to estimate the amount released. It is <br /> estimated that chlorine was released for around three minute <br /> before the main chlorine valve was shut . <br /> Evacua ion was not required since the chlorine was confined <br /> to the area near the leak. <br /> Notifications were made to the following agencies : <br /> 1 .
