MEMORANDUM <br /> TO: Stan hillippe <br /> DATE: 7 December 1979 <br /> FROM: Frank 0. McDermott <br /> SUBJECT: "C" L vel Inspection of Tri-Valley Growers Plant #4 in <br /> San oaquin County <br /> On 31 October 1 79, I inspected the subject waste treatment facilties to <br /> ascertain compli nce with Board Order No. 49-131, NPDES No. CA0003913. <br /> My inspection wa made at the end of the tomato canning season. The plant <br /> has six wastewat r ponds (percolation beds) and approximately 150 acres of <br /> sudan grass that is spray irrigated with the combined cooling and processing <br /> wastewater. <br /> All ponds were d y except the spray irrigation holding pond and the <br /> irrigation retur pond. Slight odors were detected in the vicinity of <br /> the ponds. The pray irrigation fields were also relatively free of <br /> disagreeable odo s. <br /> The plant is adding warehouse storage capacity, provisions for one more <br /> process line and 45 acres for spray irrigation of process water. <br /> The good housekeeping management practices that have reduced the water <br /> consumption at tha plant plus the additional 45 acres for spray irrigation <br /> should be adequat to handle the anticipated increased tomato processing <br /> for 1980. <br /> There has not bee a discharge of cooling water to Bear Creek since 1978. <br /> My inspection fins the discharge in compliance with Board Order No. 79-131 <br /> NPDES No. CA00039 1 <br /> 3. <br /> FRANK 0.
