EMERGENCY RESPONSE PROCEDURES REVIEW:
1. In the event of a hazardous material spill, or chemical release, notify a supervisor
immediately'apd 911 if an emergency. Be sure to identify what the material is to the
supervisor if you know what it is. If not, let the supervisor know you are not sure of what
it is.
2. When you noiify the supervisor of the spill or release, try to let him know what it is if
possible. If n t, general information of odors, gas clouds or if liquid will help as well. No
one is to app ach an unknown that is neither oil or grease without proper training.
3. The clean up - depend on the identification of the material and any directions given by
management r regulatory agencies involved. Supplier of the material may be brought in
as experts for dling the hazardous materials. If it is an oil or grease that we know, we
should attemp to contain it with absorbent materials such as pads, pigs etc. as soon as
possible. We ould keep it from getting into the drain systems. If it does get into the
drain systems we can contain it by shutting off the pumps to the fields and collect the oil
and grease at the garbage pit if necessary.
4. If the emergency, release or spill is life threatening, evacuation will be done by department
areas and supervisors will be informed to-safest direction if any evacuation point is
compromised. Head counts will be done immediately and it is important to instruct
everyone not leave the evacuation areas until instructed to do so.
