Vicki McCartney [EH]
From: Vicki McCartney[EH]
Sent: Friday, December 15, 2006 4:19 PM
To: 'Amy Terrell'
Subject: RE: ripon farm service
Amy,
Shawn McKee at Genesis Engineering & Environmental provided a deep well diagram as an
attachment to an e-mail to me today. I have reviewed the schematic of the deep well along
with an overhead well drawing and approve these plans. Also, Shawn has informed me that
fieldwork will begin Thursday, December 21st, and will continue through December 29th, if
all the permits are issued in a timely manner. Please let me know when you have approved
the work plan. Thanks, Amy.
Vicki McCartney, Senior REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
304 E. It is 932, instead of 938 Frontage Road.
Genesis Engineering & Development (Genesis) did not provide specific information
concerning the construction of the deep well using conductor casing. Please have Genesis
provide a cross section and an overhead view of the proposed deep well that includes
dimensions for the casings.
San Joaquin County (SJC) requires that monitoring wells be constructed following the "Well
Standards" in accordance with SJC Ordinance Code Section 9-1115.6. Genesis can access the
"Well Standards" by going to SJC Environmental Health Department's (EHD) website
http://www.sjgov.org/ehd, Applications and Forms, and select "Well Standards" . Section
13 .9.2 of the "Well Standards" specifically states that the monitoring well borehole
diameter shall be at least four inches greater than the outside diameter of the conductor
casing. The inner diameter of the permanent conductor casing shall in turn be at least
four inches greater than the outside diameter of the well casing.
(These same requirements can be found in "California Well Standards" . ) Because this work
plan does not give specifics as to the inside and outside diameters of the conductor
casing, I can not determine whether this work plan meets these requirements.
Once the work plan has been approved, Genesis can proceed with getting access agreements,
1
