We
do not take this deviation from tandard operating procedure lightly. We intend to perform a root cause analysis and if
necessary, will implement mea ures to ensure compliance in our waste management operations and accuracy in our
reporting.
Pending completion of the root :;ause analysis, Union Pacific will implement the following interim measures:
• Union Pacific and contractor staff who manage and/or perform waste management activities will enroll in refresher
training relevant to California Title 22 hazardous waste management requirements.
• Union Pacific and its cc ntractor will explore opportunities to improve the QA/QC process for review of analytical
reports and completion of waste characterization profiles. In fact, our contractor has developed a new Excel tool
to aid in this effort.
1.
We will report to you again after completion of our root cause analysis. In the meantime, supporting documentation
associated with this event is attached below for your review.
