€ 1.0 INTRODUCTION/PREVIOUS WORK
This report is being submitted in a response to a request by
F'ranzia Winery to remediate the remaining soil contamination
detected in the former tank pit at their Ripon facility.
It is our understanding that elevated levels of gasoline
hydrocarbons were detected in the soils beneath the three
r•. underground tanks removed in December 1988. A February 6,
1989 workplan submitted by SEMCO of Modesto to re--excavate
the tank pit was approved by the San Joaquin Environmental
Health Department with the requirements that only 900 cubic
Yards could be removed and only to a depth of 25 feet below
grade. No clean-up levels were established for the project.
Because of this, additional soil was removed to ensure that
non detectable levels of gasoline hydrocarbons were reached,
900 cubic yards of soil was removed and soil samples
collected from the pit floor and walls, only the east wall
had hydrocarbon levels above 100 parts per million (ppm). A
summary of these samples are presented on Table 1 and the
reports are located in Appendix I.
2.0 DATA REQUIRED BY THE SAN JOAQTUIN COUNTY ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
DEPARTMENT
2.1 Site _Location: Franzia Brothers Winery
17000 East Highway 120
Ripon, CA
Contact Person: Mr. Mac Parnell
Phone: (209) 982-5188
2.2 Map showing site location, relative to nearby landmarks:
The site location is shown on Figure 1.
2.3 Sketch of site.
w A site sketch is presented on Figure 2.
2.4 Estimates of liquid quantity and composition leaked:
No estimate of liquid quantity can be made with existing
information.
