Highway 120, Ripon, CA, Site Code 1592
Dear Ms. Duncan,
L Lee & Pierce, Inc. (L&P) submits this report on behalf of Mohamed Gubary to summarize the
subsurface investigation conducted at the subject site. The site location in presented on Figure 1.
SITE HISTORY
I
The site currently houses a convenience store and a restaurant. Three underground storage tanks
(USTs) were removed from the site on March 17, 1999 under permit from the San Joaquin
County Environmental Health Department(SJC/EHD).
I
l
A soil sample collected from beneath the south end of one of the USTs(TK-2 S 13')contained low
levels of gasoline constituents, but no contaminants were detected in any other sample. Sample TK-
2 S 13' contained total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) at 7 milligrams per kilogram
(mg/kg), toluene at 0.088 mg/kg, ethylbenzene at 0.062 mg/kg, and total xylenes at 0.561 mg/kg.
No benzene was detected in the sample. A site plan showing the location of the former USTs and
previous soil samples is included as Figure 2.
y
In subsequent letters,SJC/EHD requested additional investigation to determine whether soil and or
groundwater beneath the former USTs were significantly affected. In response to the request,
Geological Technics Inc. prepared a work plan to drill and sample a single soil boring adjacent to
sample TK-2 S 13' to investigate the potential impact beneath the site. SJC/EHD approved the
workplan in a letter dated July 30, 1999. L&P was contracted by Mr. Gubary to implement the
approved workplan.
