i <br /> Quik Stop Station No.076 November 2,2001 I <br /> Stockton California Work Plan for Soil and Groundwater Investigation <br /> PROPOSED SOIL INVESTIGATION <br /> Ij <br /> r <br /> The purpose of the site assessment is to: a) evaluate the lateral and vertical extent of <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons reported in soil samples collected from beneath the southern end of <br /> former UST T-1; and b) evaluate whether groundwater has been impacted by petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons. The proposed work shall include field planning and scheduling, advancement <br /> of three soil borings, soil sampling, collection of one hydropunch groundwater sample, and <br /> reporting. All fieldwork shall be conducted in accordance with Horizon Field Methods and <br /> Procedures contained in Appendix C. The tasks are described in detail below. <br /> Task 1 Select and schedule a drilling contractor; obtain the necessary permits from the <br /> SJCEHD; prepare a site-specific Health and Safety Plan; notify Underground <br /> Service Alert (USA); <br /> Task 2 Advance three soil borings (SB-1 through SB-3) at the locations shown on <br /> Fi ure 2. Soil borings shall be advanced b a C-57 licensed drilling contractor <br /> g g Y g <br /> utilizing minimum-diameter hollow-stem auger drilling equipment. Lithologic <br /> descriptions, drilling progress, sampling information shall be recorded on soil <br /> boring g g logs. Soils shall be described using the Unified Soil Classification <br /> System (USCS). Drill cuttings shall be stockpiled on and covered with plastic <br /> sheet. <br /> Advance the three soil borings to groundwater which is expected to be <br /> approximately 55 feet bsg. Collect soil samples at 5-foot intervals and field <br /> screen soil for the presence of volatile hydrocarbons with a photo-ionization <br /> detector (PID) or equivalent device.
