Union Pacific Railroad I http://www.home.uprr.conVdepts/EnvMgmvCeps/cfni/Reports/Intb_Print.cfm
Facility
Undike oil use areas at the yard drain to the separation plant
Drainage
through the yard drainage system or to local topographic lows.
Desc:
Drainag within Area 2 is by overland flow back to the oil trap. The
majority of the diesel shop area drains into the yard drainage
system toward the separation plant. Drainage entering the yard
system flows by gravity to the 5,000 -gallon drain sump north of the
diesel shop area. A float gauge automatically activates the sump
pump to pump the accumulated liquids through a stainless steel
pipe to the separation plant. Some drainage on the southeast side
of the shop building flows to the local low sump and is also directed
to the separation plant. Drainage at the plant is directed to the oil
trap and, oil is skimmed off and pumped into the waste oil tank (No.
9). Wase water and oil are pumped through the main process
pumps to system treatment. Sludge is removed and drained by
gravity to the sludge tank (No. 3) and then pumped to tank cars for
removal 'through the sludge load spot.
Hazardous
Hazardous materials used at the site are limited to a 5 gallon
Material Desc:
container of gasoline which fuels the portable high pressure steam
cleaner.
Hazardous
The waste oil accumulated in Tank(AST-9) is defined as hazardous
Waste Desc:
waste under Title 22 CCR.
Containment
The separation plant area slopes down to the oil trap, where
Structures
accumulated liquids are recycled through the separation plant.
Desc:
Drainage beneath sludge tank cars is contained by a drainage grate
and dire ted back to the separation plant. Outside the tracks, flow is
contame
within local topographic lows, and by absorbent ,materials
stored at
the separation plant.
Security
Lighting.
High level alarms.
Systems
Desc:
Escape Route
There are two available routes for vehicles. Either north to the 3rd
Desc:
Street entrance or south to the 8th Street entrance.
Comment:
