Due to the change in responsible party
designation since 1991 , PHS-EHD will now require a work plan to be submitted that will address techniques to
collect groundwater samples to verify whether or not the release documented from the underground tank system has
impacted the groundwater,
Underground tanks sites that have documented releases are required to investigate the soil beneath their systems and
determine the lateral and vertical extents of the release. Contaminated sites will be entered into the Local Oversight
Program (LOP) within PHS-EHD and be required to follow the Corrective Action requirements contained within the
Underground Tank Regulations (California Code of Regulations, Title 23, Article 11 , Sections 2720 to 2728). You
will be named as the responsible party of the site unless you supply information that others are to be named. Formai
notification will be sent to you once the responsible party identification is verified.
Technologies are currently changing and PHS-EHD recommends that you contact a qualified environmental
consultant to assist you in accomplishing your required investigation. Responsible parties that are in compliance
with PHS-EHD and have applied to the Cleanup Fund, may receive reimbursement for costs incurred during the
investigation and any clean up that is required. PHS-EHD can assist you with some of the paperwork required for
this procedure.
Please direct any questions you may have to Michael Infuma at (209) 468-3454. Additionally, your work plans and
reports should be directed to Mr. Infuma as well.
Thank you for your cooperation and PHS-EHD is looking forwards to working with you in the future.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Michael lnfurna, Senior REH Marorio REHG SV
Site Mitigation Unit Lead Senior
MI
c: John M.
