0
i
J
` August 5, 1991 _--_-- 15es ► "
ARCO Station No. 6100, Tracy, California a AAWA WA U VA
According to a report by Roux Associates of Martinez, California, gasoline hydrocarbons
were present at the base of the new tank cavity and along the east, west, and southeast
corners of the new tank cavity(Roux Associates,May 29, 1991, Report No.AR06776W.1..1).
Gasoline hydrocarbons - 'ere also detected in samples collected be0eath the pipelines east
of the two dispenser islands and below the two dispenser islands. On the basis of the results
of the previous work performed at the site, remediation of the soii beneath the site ''s
warranted. Remediation of soil using vapor extrz!etion may be feasible;nowever, the lateral
and vertical extent of residual hydrocarbons in soil is needed to evaluate locations for vapor-
extraction wells. In addition,a vapor-extraction test is necessary to evaluate the location of
wells for a complete vapor-extraction remediation system. Therefore, we propose that
additional borings be drilled at locations shown on Plate 2 to collect soil samples for
laboratory analyses to evaluate the extent of residual hydrocarbons in soil beneath the site
and eight vapor-extraction wells be installed to perform a vapor-extraction test.
Additionally, we propose borings to be drilled at locations shown on Plate 2 if further
evaluation of the lateral extent of residual hydrocarbons in soil is needed.
Work Plan
r
At ARCO's request, Applied GeoSystems will perform the following;
o Update the site safety plan.
o Provide liaison with the SJCPHS and acquire the appropriate permits.
o Provide liaison wish the San Joaquin County Department of Public Works to
obtain appropriate permits to drill one boring in the sidewalk along Patterson
Pass Road.
o Contact Underground Service Alert at least 48 hours before drilling to identify
public utility lines at the site.
e Provide a contractor to cut concrete to provide an access for drilling a boring
through the concrete pad of the dispenser island to install a vapor-extraction
well.
0619cear
- 041-2w 2
i
