CITY OF STOCKTON
 Q O
COG
' DEPARTMENT OF MUNICIPAL UTILITIES
9500 NAVY DRIVE
STOCKTON CA 9520E-1 191
(209}937-S750
' FAX(209)S37-5708 E . JUN 0 6 1995
E.3
I
L
June 1, 1995 --------------..
Lou Smith
WSF State Geologist
P O. Box 576729
Modesto CA 95347-6729
CANEPA's CAR WASH-PACIFIC AVENUE, STOCSTON
Based on information received in your letter dated May 2, 1995, and our previous investigation of the conditions that
could be factors in identifying sources of water mounding under Canepa's Car Wash, the Municipal Uhhties Collection
System Maintenance section performed additional tasks On May 8, 1995, using cleaning equipment, the crew was
able to advance 217 feet north from Porter Avenue. This location placed the end of the hire between Canepa's gas
pumps. This would seem to indicate that at some time this line had extended further north and was abandoned,
improperly, when construction was done on the car wash.
On May 25, 1995, one of our construction crews repaired an off-set joint at 115 feet north of Porter; this enabled the
T.V crews to fully inspect the line The main was located at the south property line and capped to prevent any water
from backing into the main that extended north under the car wash. All service connections have been located; all
active services south of the car wash are connected south of the capped line. The car wash service is connected to a
different line in Evelyn Street as is all other services north of the car wash
i ,If "
In summary, no active sewer mains or services remain in the area of concern. All points of connection have been
located and venfied. The main running south from the south property line of the car wash is in sound structural
condition.
Please call me if you have any further questions. I can be reached at 937-8701.
MORRIS L.
