y <br />' REPORT <br /> SOIL AND GROUNDWATER INVESTIGATION <br />' CANEPA'S CAR WASH <br /> 6230 PACIFIC AVENUE <br />' STOCKTON,CALIFORNIA <br /> PREPARED BY <br /> CONDOR EARTH TECHNOLOGIES,INC. <br /> June 12, 1998 <br />' 1 INTRODUCTION <br /> I A soil and groundwater investigation was conducted at Canepa's Car Wash, Iocated at 6230 Pacific <br /> Avenue, Stockton, California (Figure 1, Appendix A) The work was conducted in accordance with a <br /> Work flan dated January 21, 1998, prepared by Condor Earth Technologies, Inc , (Condor), and <br />' approved by Mr Ronald Rowe of the San Joaquin County Public Health Services/Environmental Health <br /> Division (PHS/GHD) The work was conducted at the request of Mr Remo Canepa to meet the <br /> provisions of the California Underground Storage Tank Clean-up Fund (UST-CF) for pre-approval of <br /> corrective action costs for the installation of an interim soil vapor extraction system proposed for this <br />' site <br /> The purpose of the work was to further investigate the lateral and vertical extent of gasoline <br /> contamination in site soil and to investigate the vertical component of gasoline contamination in site <br /> groundwater The work consisted of the installation and sampling of two soil borings using continuous <br /> sampling technology and Simutprobe discrete simultaneous soil, soil gas, and groundwater sampling <br />' technology All work conducted by Condor was performed under the supervision of a California State <br /> Registered Geologist This report includes a description of the fieldwork and laboratory analyses <br /> 2 SITE BACKGROUND <br /> Canepa's Car Wash consists of an automated car washing facility, a fuel station, and a convenience store <br /> (Figure 2,Appendix A) The car wash and fuel station has been in operation for approximately 20 years <br /> In the Spring of 1993, three underground fuel tanks, fuel lines and dispensers were removed and replaced <br /> with a doubled walled system 1 he tanks consisted of two 12,000-gallon gasoline tanks and one 5,000- <br /> gallon diesel tank When the tanks were removed it was discovered that the fuel Iines had leaked and <br /> that the tanks had been overfilled Approximately 600 cubic yards of soil were removed from the fuel <br /> tank excavation area <br /> Beginning in March, 1993, one soil boring and a network of nine soil vapor extraction (SVE) wells were <br /> drilled and installed in the area of the fuel dispenser islands Between September, 1993, and March, <br /> I 1994, eight monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-8) were installed In March, 1994, a soil vapor <br /> extraction system was installed and operated In the Fall of 1996, it was determined that the SVE system <br /> was inadequate and turned off A detailed Site History is included in Appendix B <br /> ILe� CONDOR <br />
