Febuary 26, 1993
To: Diane Hinson
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
445 N. San Joaquin St.
Stockton, CA 95201
MAR Q 1 1993
From: Gary Crowder
B & C Construction Co. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
PERMITISERVICES s
5637 N. Pershing Ave. A-3
Stockton, CA 95207
Subject: Site Remediation Plan for Canopies Carwash, 6230 Pacific Ave., Sto_ckton_ , CA _ r
l On Thursday February 25, 1993 we removed two 12,000 gallon gasoline and one 5,000
gallon diesel tanks. At that time the tank hole appeared to be clean, except for moderate
f contamination around the fill end. The tank hole was excavated to the dimensions on the
to the existing hole to accommodate three new
accompanying maps. It is my intention enlarge tmg
12.000 gallon tanks. The new tank hole dimension can also be found on the accompanying maps..;;
The original hole was excavated to a depth of 10'-6" and the new excavation will be to a depth of
13'-611. At that time I would like to take soil samples, and if found to be non detect, place the new,,
j tanks in the hole and backfill with pea gravel. If soil is found to be contaminated, we will continue
to excavate until we have removed the contamination.
On Thursday we also removed the product piping from the areas shown on the map. This 4
area appeared to be quite contaminated. We excavated to a depth of approximately 5'and took
soil samples in three separate locations. On Monday, March 1, we intend to extend our
excavation in this area to try and determine the extent of the contamination. At that time we will
take additional soil samples to determine if we were able to removc the contamination. If it is
found that the contamination still extends beyond the additional excavation a secondary plan must
I be initiated. .Due to the low roof line of the structure and structural faotrngs in this area, extensive
excavation would be prohibitive. If a secondary plan beyond excavation is to be initiated, Mr.
Remo Canepa(carwash owner)would have to engage the services of a professional Environmental
Engineer.
It is my intention to expedite this project in the most safe and efficient manner possible,
and to comply with everything required in order to protect the public safety.
i
Gary Cr der
Insert: Two maps
k s
i
