EI Dorado Street, <br /> Stockton, California 95206. It is expected that the last day of manufacturing operations will be <br /> December 2, 2011. This action is necessary due to excess capacity, to improve productivity <br /> and efficiency, and to reduce the cost of manufacturing products that are currently produced at <br /> Stockton and at other Heinz North America plants. As announced today, products currently <br /> being produced at Stockton will be transitioned to our other plants in Escalon, California, <br /> Fremont, Ohio and Muscatine, Iowa. <br /> There are 141 employees who will be affected, that is, subject to loss of employment, including <br /> 129 hourly employees. The Company has notified and met with officials of Teamster Union <br /> Local 601 and will'follow the severance provisions and all other relevant provisions of the <br /> current Collective Bargaining Agreement between Heinz North America and Teamster Union <br /> Local 601. The Company will also notify the Employment Development Department (EDD) of <br /> the State of California to request that rapid response and outplacement services be provided to <br /> all employees. <br /> This notice is being provided pursuant to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification <br /> (WARN) Act of 1989, and California WARN requirements of the California Labor Code, which <br /> both require employers to give official notice to employee representatives, to non-represented <br /> employees, and to certain governmental units, agencies or officials of a pending mass layoff or <br /> facility closure. <br /> The plant shutdown was announced to all affected employees via meetings held on <br /> September 30th at the plant. Employees who did not attend the meetings today were <br /> notified otherwise. WARN notice letters have been sent today to the WARN Act <br /> Coordinator - Employment Development Department (EDD), State of California, to the <br /> Mayor, City of Stockton, to the County Administrator, San Joaquin County, to the <br /> affected non-represented employees, and to Teamster Union Local 601. <br /> For now and until December 2, 2011, you should continue to work as you are scheduled. You <br /> will be provided with additional information about your severance pay and benefits before your <br /> last day of work.
