On May 18, 1999, Unocal requested an extension to the
deadline for submission of this workplan until after a ruling is received on our closure
appeal to the State Water Resources Control Board. So far, Unocal has not received a
response to that request.
As you are probably aware, Unocal has petitioned the State Board for review of that
request and has asked for a stay. To date, the Board has not ruled. 1n light of the status of
this matter, Unocal is submitting the attached work plan for additional delineation of
downgradient soil and groundwater. However, Unocal requests that your review of the
plan and any implementation of this plan be delayed until such time as the State Board
rules on Unocal's most recent petition.
Sincerely,
Robert Boust
1.
