Box 5155
San Roman, California 94583
Subject: Letter Report of Quarterly Ground-Water Monitoring,First
Quarter at
Former Unocal Station No.2859, 1665 Pacific Avenue,Stockton, California.
Mr. Sisk:
This report summarizes the results of the first quarter 1990 ground-water monitoring that
Applied GeoSystems conducted with your authorization at former Unocal Station 2859 in
Stockton, California. The site location is shown on the Site Vicinity Map(Plate P-1). The
work for this monitoring phase included measuring depths to ground water and subjectively
analyzing ground water in five monitoring wells (wells MW-1 through MW-5), purging and
sampling ground water from these wells, analyzing ground-water samples for hydrocarbon
constituents, and evaluating the groundwater gradient at the site. The locations of the
monitoring wells in relation to other site features are shown on the Generalized Site Plan
(PIate P-2).
F Previous Work
Five soil borings were drilled at the site as part of a subsurface environmental investigation
conducted by J.H. Kleinfelder & Associates pinfelder of Sacramento,
( ) California, ir,
January 1988. Results of this investigation indicated that hydrocarbons were present in soil
underlying the site (Kleinfelder, March 3, 1988, Report No. 24-2081-01).
Applied GeoSystems began an environmental investigation in conjunction with underground-
siorage tank removal in March and April 1988(Applied GeoSystems,April 28, 1988,Report
_No..38012-1)._During this investigation;ageologist observed reinnval of the underground
storage tanks and collected soil samples for laboratory analysis of hydrocarbons. Results of
analyses indicated that hydrocarbons were present in the soil underlying the tank cavity
(Applied GeoSystems, April 28, 1988, Report No. 038012-1).
v
