PACIFIC <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL �` { <br /> • � <br /> GROUP INC <br /> APS 1 i's TS9- <br /> ENWONMEN AJ IxALTH <br /> PERVIJT/bERVIC,S <br /> Apnl 14, 1995 <br /> Project 310-040 3A <br /> Mr Bob Boust <br /> Unocal Corporation <br /> 2000 Crow Canyon Place <br /> San Ramon, California 94583 <br /> Re Former Unocal Service Station 2859 <br /> 1665 Pacific Avenue <br /> Stockton, California _ <br /> Dear Mr Boust <br /> This letter presents a work plan prepared by Pacific Environmental Group, Inc <br /> • (PACIFIC) for the referenced site (Figures 1 and 2) PACIFIC proposes to initiate a <br /> 6-month soil vapor extraction (SVE) study in order to evaluate the viability of sustain- <br /> able use of SVE technology at the site This study will provide a basis for ongoing <br /> remedial efforts at the site This letter presents site background, a discussion of soil and <br /> groundwater conditions, the proposed scope of work, and a tentative schedule for <br /> implementation <br /> SITE BACKGROUND <br /> The site is located in Stockton, California Land use in the vicinity of the site includes <br /> retail stores, an elementary school, and private residences The closest water-supply <br /> well was documented by Applied GeoSystems, Inc (AGS) to be 800 feet to the <br /> northeast of the site (December 1990) <br /> The site lies at an approximate elevation of 10 feet above mean sea level The topogra- <br /> phy in the vicinity is essential flat with a gentle slope to the west toward the San Joaquin <br /> River, which is located 3 miles to the west of the site <br /> The site is currently a vacant lot Unocal originally leased the site in January 1947 The <br /> station was completely remodeled in 1967 The station was demolished between Febru- <br /> ary and April 1988 During station demolition, two 10,000-gallon underground gasoline <br /> tanks were removed from a common excavation along with a separate 550-gallon waste <br /> oil tank The former tank locations, along with the product islands and station building, <br /> are shown on Figure 2 <br /> 2025 GatewayPlace Suite 440 San lose California 95110 {408)441-7500 FAX (408}441-75 <br /> 39 <br />
