Monitoring Well and Sparge Points Installation Report—Former Unocal Station#2859,Stockton,CA
August 19,2002
CHEMICAL ANALYTICAL RESULTS
A total of seven soil samples from the well borings, one composite soil sample from the stockpiled drill
cuttings, and two groundwater samples were submitted under chain-of-custody for chemical analysts
Analyses were performed by Sequoia Analytical (FLAP #1271 and #1624) Copies of the laboratory
reports and chain-of-custody forms are included in Appendix F Soil and groundwater chemical
analytical data are summarized in Tables 2 and 3, respectively
Chemical Analytical Procedures
All soil and groundwater samples were analyzed for TPHg, BTEX, and MtBE by CA DHS LUFT
Methods Groundwater samples were also analyzed for ethanol, tert-butyl alcohol (TBA), MtBE,
di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tert-butyl ether (ETBE), tert-amyl methyl ether (TAME),
1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA), and ethylene dibromide (EDB) by EPA Method 8260B As required by
the disposal facility, the stockpiled drill cutting's composite sample was analyzed for TPHg, BTEX, and
MtBE by CA DHS LUFT Methods, and total lead by EPA Method 6010B
Soil Analytical Results
TPHg, BTEX, or MtBE were not detected in soil samples from the well borings
Groundwater Analytical Results
TPHg, benzene, ethanol, TBA, DIPE, ETBE, TAME, 1,2-DCA, or EDB were not detected in wells
MW-20 and MW-21 MtBE was not detected in the wells by EPA Method 8260B
WASTE DISPOSAL
Soil cuttings generated during drilling activities were stockpiled on-site, and were placed on and covered
with plastic Composite disposal confirmation sample SP-I-A,B,C,D was collected from the stockpiled
soil cuttings (Table 2) Stockpile sampling procedures are presented in Appendix A The stockpiled soil
cuttings were removed from the site by Manley and Sons Trucking Inc and transported to Forward
Landfill in Manteca, California, on April 26, 2002 for disposal A copy of the disposal confirmation
form is included in Appendix B
OZONE MICROSPARGE SYSTEM
C-SpargeTM wells SP-lA, SP-1B, SP-1C, SP-2A, SP-213, SP-2C, SP-3A, and SP-3B were connected to an
ozone microsparge system System operation began on August 14,2002
The system will be evaluated based on groundwater sample analytical results from wells MW-2, MW-10,
MW-11, and NP-1 The samples will be analyzed for TPHg, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes
(BTEX), and MtBE by CA DHS LUFT Methods
