RESULTS
5.9 MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION
' Boring NP-1 was advanced to a total depth of 92 feet bgs at the Site While the
' completion was originally proposed and planned as a nested well completion, grout was
madvertantly smeared in the anticipated depth interval in which the middle nested piezometer
' would be completed Since the grout would potentially affect the subsequent groundwater
monitoring results, the borehole was grouted up to the surface As a replacement for the
effort, a second well (MW-10) was drilled 5 feet away from NP-1 in order to place a well
screen across the original depth interval of interest NP-1 is a 1" PVC well screened from 90
' to 85 feet bgs MW 10 is screened from 50 to 60 ft bgs Well boring logs, completion
detads, and diagrams for installed wells NP-1 and MW-10 are shown in Appendix F
5.2 SITE SUBSURFACE STRATIGRAPHY
Boring NP-1, terminated at 92 feet bgs, is the deepest boring advanced at the Site to
' date Previously, tempest boring at the Site had_been advanced to_55-feet.bgs The
lithology of the soils encountered between ground surface and 55 feet bgs was consistent with
' that reported in previous Site environmental investigations Between 55 ft bgs and 92 ft bgs,
layers of clayey fine sands, clayey silts, and silts were observed
' The hthology of the soil layers encountered in MW-10 was not logged at the tune of
drilling MW-10 was installed as a replacement boring to facilitate mstallation of the planned
middle nested well onginally intended to be completed in NP-1 MW-10 is located 5 feet away
from NP-1
1
