a <br /> PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION AND EVALUATION REPORT <br /> August 1996 <br />' California Fuels Cardlock Station <br /> 2402 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, California <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br />' In accordance with the request of Mr David Atwater of Van De Poi Enterprises, Advanced <br /> GeoEnvironmemal, Inc (AGE) has prepared this Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report <br />' (PIER)for 2402 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, California The scope of work included the advancement <br /> of six soil borings, the installation of four ground water monitoring wells, and the collection and <br /> analysis of soil and ground water samples The location of the site is illustrated on Figure 1 - Location <br />' Map A plan of the site is illustrated on Figure 2 - Site Plan <br /> The investigation was performed in accordance with the guidelines of both the San Joaquin County <br />' Public Health Services - Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) and Central Valley Regional <br /> Water Quality Control Board for the investigation of underground storage tank (UST) sites <br />' 2.0. BACKGROUND <br /> 2 1 SITE DESCRIPTION AND USAGE <br /> The site is located at 2402 Pacific Avenue, on the northeast corner of the intersection of Castle Street <br /> and Pacific Avenue, in a topographically flat area of the city of Stockton, San Joaquin County, <br /> California The site is within the northeast quarter of Section 6, Township 2 North, Range 6 East, <br />' Mount Diablo Base and Meridian (MDB&M) <br /> The usage of the property as a fueling facility dated back to at least 20 years California Fuels <br />' Cardlock Station (CFCS) operated the site as a retail station of motor vehicle fuels between May - <br /> 1983 and January 1995 A wide spectrum of fuels, including gasoline and diesel fuel, was stored and <br /> dispensed of on the site at various times Two 10,000-gallon gasoline underground storage tanks <br />' (USTs), and one 10,000-gallon diesel UST were in operation with no known history of repair during <br /> the occupation of CFCS <br /> 2 2 UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL <br /> The three 10,000-gallon USTs were excavated and removed from the site in March 1996 Soil <br /> samples were collected at a depth of approximately 17 to 18 feet below site grade (bsg) beneath each <br /> UST at the time of their removal Substantial petroleum hydrocarbon contamination was detected <br /> beneath two 10,000-gallon gasoline USTs Following tank removal, the three 10,000-gallon USTs <br /> . were disposed of to a proper UST disposal facility, while soil from the tank excavation was placed <br /> back into the original excavation The results of the soil samples collected during the tank removal <br />
