1
13 December 1999
AGE-NC Project No 95-0173
' 2 through MW-4, VW-1, AW-1B, and AW-2B at concentrations as high as 83 µg/l, DIPE was
detected from well MW-4 at a concentration of 2 3 ugll No other fuel oxygenates were detected
above laboratory reporting limits Analytical results of the ground water samples are summarized
' in Table 2 The laboratory reports (Castle Analytical Laboratory Reference No 2549 and
McCampbell Analytical Inc I D No 23811 through 23825) and chain-of-custody forms are
presented in Appendix B
4.0. CONCLUSIONS
' Based upon data collected during the October 1999 monitoring, AGE concludes
' • A general northeast ground water flow direction occurs in the area bound by wells MW-1
through MW-12 at an approximate gradient of 0 003
' • Wells AW-1B and AW-2B yields data representative of deeper ground water conditions
• The elevated petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations detected in water samples collected from
wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, MW-4 (screened between 30 and 50 feet bsg) and VW-1
10 (screened between 15 and 35 feet bsg) suggest that these wells may be screened within or
near the dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon "core area" of the plume
' • A significant increase in dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations was observed in
water samples collected from deeper screened ground water monitoring wells AW-1B
(screened 50 to 60 feet bsg) and AW-2B (screened 60 to 70 feet bsg)
' 0 The dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon plume appears to be sufficiently contained within the
current array of ground water monitoring wells
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon the results of this investigation, AGE recommends a reduction of quarterly
monitoring/sampling events to semi-annual monitonng/samplmg events pending initiation of a
remedi allyl! oystelAl at elle site DCLLa VV111.►ited 11Vlll 13 1IIUIIILVIII16 GVL+IILJ 1,V11UUULGU CLL L 1G 61LG 3111C.G
August 1996 demonstrates a well-defined, stable plume Until remediation is initiated, it is not
anticipated that data obtained from additional monitoring events will enhance or modify the current
plume model The remediation system start-up is tentatively scheduled during the first quarter of
2000
0
IAdvanced GeoEnvlronmcntal,Inc
