I
' 04 January 2002
AGE-NC Project No 95-0173
' Page 5 of 8
4 3 RESULTS OF SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION
' Between 01 July p 2001 and 30 September 2001 the SVE and IAS remediation systems were
operational for 2,158 hours (Table 5) During the operational period, SVE inlet flow rates ranged
from 100 to 115 cubic feet per minute (cfrn), differential pressures ranged between 4 0 and 4 2
inches of water, and induced vacuum between 36 and 39 inches of water Utilizing a photo ionization
'
meter(PID),hydrocarbon concentrations were measured between 83 and 219 parts per million(ppm)
at regular Intervals at the SVE inlet Field measurements are summarized in Table 5
' 4 4 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF VAPOR EXTRACTION AIR FLOW SAMPLES
' SVE air flow samples were collected on 11 July, 09 August, 13 September 2001 TPH-g was
detected in all three influent SVE air flow samples at concentrations as high as 1,500 ,ug/l, TPH-g
was not detected In any effluent SVE air flow samples
BTEX compounds were detected in all three influent SVE air flow samples at concentrations as high
• as 170ig/1 (xylenes, 13 September 2001) Benzene was only detected in the 13 September 2001 air
flow sample at a concentration of 1 4 ,ug/1 Analytical results of SVE air flow samples are
summarized in Table 4 The laboratory reports(McCampbell Analytical Laboratory I D Nos 72270-
71, 74509-10 and 77940-41) and chain-of-custody forms are presented in Appendix D A plot of
' laboratory analysis influent TPH-g SVE air flow concentrations versus time is included with
Appendix E
'
45 MASS CALCULATION OF RECOVERED PRODUCT
' The hydrocarbon mass removed during the SVE operating period was calculated using the equation
M= C•Q•t
rwhere M = cumulative mass recovered (kg)
C =vapor concentration(kg/m3)
Q = extraction flow rate (M3/hr)
t= operational period, in hours
Between 01 July 2001 and 30 September 2001 (third quarter 2001), the SVE unit operated a total
of 2,158 hours (Table 5) The average analytical results (approximately 1,143 /.ig/1) of the SVE air
flow samples (Table 3), average flow rates (approximately 115 cfin, Table 5) and the operational
period(2,158 hours) were used to calculate the approximate mass of extracted gasoline during this
period
' Advanced Geo Environmental,Inc
